THE first of a series of Australian Elite Genetic Merit dairy cattle sales will feature daughters of cows from the top 100 Australian Breeding Values Ranking.
Next week's Genetics Australia and Landmark sale will offer 40 lots, including heifers backed by up to 10 generations of VG or Excellent classed dams, from Australia's highest ABV herds.
Genetics Australia chief executive officer Ray Johnson said heifers would be available from families that produced top bulls such as Goldsmith, Justifier, Altacolin and Valerian.
There will also be embryo packages from proven bull mothers, heifers from new and emerging cow families and some with unique pedigree containing such sire lines as Fabulon, Oman and Roumare.
"The Elite Genetic Merit dairy cattle sales series fills a distinct gap in the market for these standards of genetics, focusing on the profit characteristics of dairy cattle based on their ABVs and pedigree structures," Dr Johnson said.
"This sale is a rare chance for farmers to purchase these genetics that would not otherwise be available.
"We really needed to provide profit-conscious dairy farmers with a way of accessing elite dairy cows to really drive their profitability and productivity."
Feature lots at the sale - to be held at Lardner Park next Wednesday - include Kaarmona Roumare Carly 48, one of Australia's best Oman daughters backed by the family behind Altacolin.
The first heifer to sell from the same family that produced Goldsmith (the Tottie family) is Topspeed Mascol Kelly 2254.
There is also Beulah Val M Poppins, a Valerian heifer from the best cow family in the number-one Jersey ABV herd.
The sale starts at 1pm, with inspections from 10.30am.
