STUD rams sold to $15,000 and averaged $4435 at the 20th annual Detpa Grove White Suffolk sale at Jeparit in Victoria today.
The Pipkorn family’s 27 stud rams sold to a 100 per cent clearance with 114 of the 136 flock rams selling to $1200 and averaging $500.
In total, the sale cleared 141 rams from 163 offered at an average of $1332, up from last year's average of $1233 for 145 rams.
A total of 68 ewes sold to a top of $1000 and a $355 average.
Top priced ram buyer Steve Funke, from Bundara Downs, Bordertown described his $15,000 sire as being proud and correct and having good presence for age.
Elders auctioneer Ross Milne said the sale result was exceptional considering the tough seasonal conditions.
