DAIRY cows in the Bega Valley, on the NSW's south coast, will be part of a special ceremony this weekend.
ABC News reports that they will be blessed as part of the ninth annual blessing of the dairy herd, held to honour the Bega Valley farming community. Bishop Allan Ewing of the Anglican diocese of Canberra-Goulburn will conduts the service.
Ceremony spokesman, Charles Day of St John’s Anglican Church in Bega, told ABC News that the service draws attention to the industry’s importance to the Bega Valley.
"We think we're pretty well the only ones, maybe across Australia doing it ... certainly none other on the south coast," Mr Day said.
