A MEETING of farm leaders, researchers and the Victorian Government this week may result in a new direction for the Mallee Research Station at Walpeup.

The future of the land at the MRS will form part of a broader review into research priorities for the Mallee.

The review, which will be jointly funded by the Department of Primary Industries and the Grains Research and Development Corporation, is likely to be completed by next February or March.

This week's meeting was convened by the Victorian Farmers Federation with the purpose of seeking a review of research, development and extension for the Mallee.

VFF grains group leader Geoff Nalder said the State Government's recent announcement it was closing the MRS and relocating staff had prompted the meeting.
