WE all know locusts have something of an image problem.

They've copped some bad press over the centuries, always being associated with plagues and pestilence, devouring everything in their path.

But someone out there thinks they're not all bad. A website called SaveTheLocust.com asks farmers and government to think twice before spraying the little critters as they battle to control the looming outbreak in the Riverina.

SaveTheLocust.com says locust plagues are part of nature and we should learn to live with them rather than destroy them.

Fair enough. Maybe we could harvest them instead of spraying them.

Back Paddock hears they are very tasty when roasted, barbecued or stuffed with peanuts and stir-fried.
