Rural funding
MORE than 30 rural communities will receive money for local projects as part the ABB Grain Community Fund.
The fund, which has so far allocated more than $420,000 to a number of Australian rural community projects, has awarded 31 grants in the latest round.
The money will be used for projects in education and training, health, youth development and community amenity.
"The support of rural and regional communities is of great importance to ABB," ABB Grain corporate affairs manager Marc Cooney said.
Maximise pools
A KONDININ Group report has found there can be up to a $40/tonne gain by selecting grain pools that best suit their variety, grade and harvest goals.
The first document of its kind since deregulation, the Western Australian Wheat Pools Performance Comparison report provides an analysis of Western Australia's six major pools over the past four seasons.
Analyst Rob Sands from Farmanco Consultants said the best performers had lower costs, better hedging and timely payments.
He said over time, harvest pools had tried to reduce confusion and had made management fees more transparent.
