WATCHING a python engulf a wild cockatoo in its jaws should be a one-off but astonished Clifton Beach woman Cindy Lane has a particularly greedy snake in her patch

Nine days after witnessing a python eating a sulphur-crested cockatoo in her bougainvillea tree, Ms Lane saw a rerun on Saturday after hearing squawking coming from the back yard about 9pm, the Cairns Post reports.

"The poor cockatoo was writhing around with the python coiling itself around him," Ms Lane said.

Squirting the snake with a garden hose did nothing.

The Clifton Beach artist doesn't know if it was the same snake.

"I can't quite believe it would go for another cockie that quick," she said of the nine-day hiatus between incidents.
