RAINFALL this week has partly eased the short-term lack of rain across South Australia's pastoral districts, central Australia and the southern interior of Western Australia.
The Bureau of Meteorology said there was a slight easing of short-term rainfall deficiencies across western Queensland, northeast NSW and central Northern Territory.
A lack of rainfall continued over southern NSW, Victoria and Tasmania, with areas of eastern Victoria, western and southern NSW and southwest NT recording only 40 to 50 per cent of the estimated mean rainfall for the period.
Small areas of southeast NSW and the southwest NT have observed less the 40 per cent.
"Totals in excess of 25 mm were recorded across central and eastern WA, the NT, northwest SA, the far north and south of QLD, northeast NSW and western Tasmania,” the bureau said in its weekly rainfall update.
"The highest measured rainfall totals for the week were in excess of 150 mm, falling over southeast QLD and northeast NSW. High totals in excess of 100 mm were observed across central Australia.
"Widespread falls of between 5 and 25 mm were recorded over some of the remaining parts of eastern and central WA, the NT, SA, Queensland, northern and eastern NSW, central and western Tasmania and parts of Victoria.
"The far western parts of WA, southeast SA, southern NSW, central Queensland and parts of Victoria saw little or no rain at all."
