FARMERS have a chance to join in controlled traffic workshops planned for northwest Victoria early next year.
Controlled traffic farming is seen as a key to sustainable cropping and involves sowing, spraying and harvesting paddocks using the same wheel tracks."Controlled traffic farming extends the capacity of crops in moisture challenged soils to be more resilient towards the effects of changing weather patterns," Grego Antonoff from the Department of Primary Industries said.
He said the system didn't have to involve big ticket machinery but there were keys to success that would be explored during the February workshops.
