STUDENTS seeking a career in the dairy industry are encouraged to apply for the 2009 Greenham Dairy Scholarship.
Founded in 2000, the scholarship provides the opportunity for students to undertake further education related to any sector of the dairy industry.
The scholarship is open to family, share farmers and employees of farmers, who supply cattle to Greenham's Tongala meat processing plant.
Those between the ages of 17 and 45 are eligible to apply.

Cheesemaker scholarships extended
THE closing date for applications for Dairy Australia's 2009 cheesemaker scholarships has been extended to December 15.
Valued at more than $10,000, each scholarship includes a series of cheese training courses at the National Centre for Dairy Education Australia, an industry induction with Dairy Australia, and placements with National Foods, De Cicco and Milawa Cheese.
The scholarship winners will be announced at the Australian Grand Dairy Awards in Melbourne next February.
Dairy Board positions available
THE Dairy Extension Centre is seeking expressions of interest for board positions.
The result of a memorandum of understanding between the Victorian Department of Primary Industries and Dairy Australia, the DEC oversees the work of DPI extension staff.
The board includes representatives from Dairy Australia, DPI and the United Dairyfarmers of Victoria.
Two board member positions nominated by the UDV are up for renewal. Both are skills-based.
One position is for two years and the other for three years.

All Dairy Breeds Youth Camp countdownTHE countdown is on for next year's National All Dairy Breeds Youth Camp.
The camp, to be held at the National Centre for Dairy Education Australia at Dookie in Victoria on January 5-9, aims at fostering dairy cattle breeding skills among young enthusiasts.
This year's camp - open to those aged 16-20 years - takes on the theme of marketing, with students to hone their skills in handling dairy heifers, judging, showing and clipping. Breeding and new technology will also be discussed.
