THE lives of Murray Bushrangers' half-forward flanker Sam Wright and Geelong Falcons tall defender Jordan Jones could change dramatically today if they are selected in the AFL draft.

SAM WRIGHT

  • Murray Bushrangers
  • DOB: 15/7/1990
  • Height: 188cm
  • Weight: 76kg
  • Medium forward

An agile half-forward flanker, Wright has an uncanny resemblance to Collingwood young gun Dale Thomas in both looks and playing style.

He booted 32 goals in the Bushrangers’ premiership-winning season and is known for his silky overhead skills and good goal sense.

Originally from Katamatite Football Club, Wright has been linked to Collingwood, Adelaide, Hawthorn, West Coast and Port Adelaide in pre-draft speculation.

He also has strong defensive skills and can be used across the half-back line when necessary.

JORDAN JONES

  • Geelong Falcons
  • DOB: 29/6/1990
  • Height: 190cm
  • Weight: 90kg
  • Tall defender

Jones’ TAC Cup season was derailed when he tore a shoulder muscle playing for Vic Country at the NAB AFL under-18 championships, but good form in the early part of the season and for Vic Country has kept him in the draft mix.

A tall defender, Jones is strong overhead and good in one-on-one contests.

The AFL’s youth and high performance co-ordinator Jason McCartney described Jones as the type of defender who can win the footy and run off the backline to create opportunity.

Hawthorn, Adelaide and Sydney have all been touted as Jones’ new home.
