FIAT is trumpeting the advantages of a fuel-saving monitor that tells European drivers when to lighten their foot.
Eco:Drive uses a USB memory stick plugged into the car's dashboard to record data on driving style.
The data can be loaded on to a computer and analysed to tell the driver how to reduce fuel use and emissions.
The system will be available in Australia early next year.
It is an upgrade to the Blue&Me telematics system fitted to select Fiat 500 and Ritmo models.
Other models will eventually be able to use the monitor, including commercial vehicles.
