A SMALL increase in water allocations on the Murray and the Goulburn systems was announced today.

The seasonal allocation in the Murray system has increased by 5 per cent to 33 per cent of high-reliability water shares.

The Goulburn system seasonal allocation also increased by 5 per cent to 28 per cent.

All other northern Victorian water systems remain at zero.

Goulburn Murray Water resource manager Graeme Hannan said the allocation improvements had come from inflows arising from rain in December, reduced system losses due to favourable weather conditions and ongoing water conservation activities.

“Demand for water in all systems is low due to low water availability and has been further suppressed by several rain events and low temperatures in recent weeks," Mr Hannan said.

"Future allocation improvements this season depend on inflows and reduced operating water requirements.”
