The Mackay animal pound in north Queensland is looking for someone planning a very big barbecue.
The pound, used to handling dogs and cats, has a major problem on its hands - two bulls looking for a home, or a barbecue. The pair of brindle bulls were found at Mt Jukes on the northern outskirts of Mackay in mid December.
They had no tags, no brands, no markings to identify them and are yet to be claimed by their rightful owner.
With no clear branding, the two bulls, currently being cared for on a private property at Mt Ossa, will go to tender with the highest bidder claiming the unlikely prize.
"These are cleanskins, so we thought the best thing we could do was offer them for sale," Mackay Regional Council's manager of health and regulatory services, Neil Ischenko, told AAP.
He said the festive season is traditionally the busiest time for the local pound, but the discovery of two bulls was certainly unusual.
Anyone in the market for a bull simply has to make an offer to the council before January 9, Mr Ischenko said.
