MELBURNIANS made a tiny dent in water consumption last year, using 500 million litres less than in 2007.
A total of 368 billion litres of water was sucked from Melbourne storages in 2008, as catchments endured a 14 per cent rainfall deficit.
Water Minister Tim Holding says the slight decrease in consumption is good news .. with the city growing by about an extra one-thousand people a week.
