A CONTAINER trial designed to help olive growers identify the best storage solution for extra virgin olive oil is under way at Wagga Wagga in NSW.
NSW Department of Primary Industries oil research laboratory principal research scientist Rod Mailer said testing of containers would continue for about six months.
"We will be testing 10 different collapsible bags and two rigid plastic containers, each with a 1000-litre capacity," Dr Mailer said.
"We will test the extra virgin olive oil at arrival, add it to each container and then undertake weekly and monthly monitoring and testing."
Results should be available later this year.
