Grain storage

It was an increase of 42 per cent over the December 2007 level of grain stocks.

Wheat was up nearly 5.5 million tonnes.

Stocks of barley were down 7 per cent.

ABB Seeds

ABB Seeds has appointed Jason Scott as its new sales manager for Victoria and southern NSW.

Mr Scott, 34, will be based in Bendigo and will have responsibility for Victoria and southern grain-growing regions of NSW.

ABB Grain has increased its No. 2 feed barley pool estimate by $5 a tonne, taking the current estimate to $190-200 a tonne, FOB.

ABB also has a No. 2 malt pool ($210-$220 a tonne, FOB) and No. 1 wheat pool ($315-$325, a tonne FOB) open for grower deliveries, but they could shut at any time.

Pool unchanged

AWB'S eastern and western wheat pool estimates remain unchanged after a review of prices.

The benchmark APW grade remains at $344 a tonne, FOB, in the eastern pool and $339 a tonne, FOB, in the western pool.
