THE Rural Fire Service says the bushfire threat in NSW has eased significantly with the onset of cool, wet conditions across the state.
Sixty per cent of the state was under a total fire ban on the weekend, but the only area of concern is far western NSW where hot, dry and windy conditions are expected with a very high to extreme fire danger.Seventeen bushfires are still burning across NSW but rain has fallen on Sydney and many parts of the state and hundreds of firefighters are taking advantage of today's weather.
While several fires are still burning out of control, the RFS says none are of major concern at the moment.
