THE Old Skool Hot Rod Club, of Horsham, will host the annual Grampians Hot Rod Run at Halls Gap next weekend.

The event is scheduled to take up the weekend following the annual Grampians Jazz Festival, which wound up last Sunday.

Entrants will arrive on Friday and register at the Halls Gap Caravan Park.

On Saturday, 130 cars will cruise to Dunkeld and back, with a meal at The Valley Lodge that evening.

On Sunday, the cars will fill the main street for a show and shine until 2pm.

Entries have been received from as far afield as Newcastle in NSW, the Barossa Valley of South Australia and Gippsland.

Public entry is $2.

The club also started another smaller run last year called the Hot Summer Nights Cruise.

This took place around Horsham and was modelled on a popular cruise in Reno, Nevada (US), which attracts more than 8000 cars.

The local version will now be an annual event run on the first weekend of December.

Last year, the Horsham event attracted about 40 cars.

The Old Skool Hot Rod Club started as the idea of a couple of Horsham rodders in 2005 and has now grown into a club with more than 30 members from all over the Wimmera.

Its clubrooms are in the old Riverside School, east of Horsham, hence the club's name.
