THE first port of call for information on fire recovery is the Victorian Department of Primary Industries.
The DPI has released a comprehensive booklet Recovery After Fire - practical steps for landholders.
The 27-page illustrated booklet has three key parts:
- Immediate post fire which covers monitoring assets, livestock and health and insurance.
- Asset recovery and pest control which covers fixing burnt fences, soil erosion, pasture recovery and pest control.
- Preparing for next season which addresses bushfire survival plans, livestock fire plans and insurance cover.
The booklet is aimed at farmers and other landholders but has valuable information for town and city dwellers.
It is available by visiting www.dpi.vic.gov.au and clicking on the bushfire response and recovery link, phoning the customer service centre on 13 61 86, TTY 1800 122 969, or emailing customer.service@dpi.vic.gov.au
