A PURPOSE-BUILT semi-trailer commissioned especially for Shannons Insurance will make its field days debut next week.
Known as the Shannons Super Rig, the 21m truck has been busy travelling to various shows and displays to promote the company.
Executive manager Graeme Browne said the unit allowed staff to travel across the country.
"The Super Rig is a one-stop shop for motoring enthusiasts," Graeme said.
"We will have staff on board who can arrange for car lovers to have their car, motorcycle or motoring memorabilia included in an upcoming Shannons auction."
The Super Rig unfolds into an 8m by 8m hospitality, entertainment and information centre.
"For those who are impressed by the latest gizmos, there are driving simulators and gaming consoles on board," Graeme said.
Adding to the shine of the rig at the field days will be several local custom cars and hot rods, displayed by Horsham's Old Skool Hotrod and Custom Club.
One of the club's founding members, Craig Hobbs, said the event was a good opportunity to show off some the region's finest custom and restored vehicles.
Craig owns a 1929 Ford Roadster pick-up with a five-litre V8 engine that he customised and restored over a two-year period.
"It was all done after hours, so to speak, and it's great to have it finished," Craig said.
"It's the car I use for work, so it gets used pretty much every day."
Another club member, Terry Jenkins, also owns a Ford pick-up, but it's not quite finished yet.
Terry's is a 1942 model that was found in a tip.
"Apparently, it was used for spotlighting, so it had plenty of character," he said.
"Many people said it was too far gone, but it's been a work in progress now for about three years and it's not too far off."
