DOZENS of people have expressed interest in a class action over the Horsham and Coleraine fires.

"We've had a strong response for both fires and the phone continues to ring," Brendan Pendergast from Maddens Lawyers Warrnambool said.

The fires burned 700ha at Coleraine, Victoria, with 2600ha, eight houses and dozens of sheds lost at Horsham, Victoria, on February 7.

Some locals claim the Horsham fire appeared to start after a power line came off a pole in strong winds.

Maddens, who were involved in compensations cases after Ash Wednesday bushfires, will hold information meetings to discuss the action at Horsham and Coleraine on Monday.
