THE Perkins family certainly doesn't do things by halves.

Heather and Dale Perkins are "consolidating" their holdings to spend more time with their children, and follow other pursuits.

However, the energetic pair will still hold on to their other interests in South Australia and Victoria.

Dale, a former president of the SA Farmers Federation, and Heather have owned the property, Dewrang, at Balmoral in the Western District, since 2000.

"We had some sandy country at Penola which we sold, and we decided this was (good value)," Heather said.

The couple runs a fine wool Merino and first-cross ewe operation across several properties.

"We have centre pivots (on the SA properties) and fatten the first-cross lambs there," Heather said.

The rolling country is picturesque, with creeks running through it, Heather said.

"It is not steep country, just rolling hills," she said.

The property is divided into 17 main paddocks with smaller holding paddocks. Stock is watered by on-farm dams and spring-fed creeks.

Heather said while they had grazed Dewrang, it would also suit cropping.

"The higher areas would definitely suit cropping, it is a very versatile pocket of land," Heather said.

Improvements at Dewrang include a large shearing shed, undercover race and steel yards, as well as all-weather, undercover cattle yards with crush.

There are smaller holding paddocks and a laneway.

There are also three large hay sheds and machinery sheds as well as two houses.
