THREE months on from Victoria's devastating Black Saturday bushfires, Victorian Farmers Federation re-fencing volunteers remain hard at work, with more help urgently needed to complete the huge task.
Under the partnership between farmers and the Victorian Government, the VFF has appointed 15 fencing co-ordinators.
These people are charged with co-ordinating teams of volunteers to assist in erecting an estimated 8000km of boundary fencing adjoining Crown land, roadsides and neighbouring properties across the state.
VFF president Simon Ramsay said that since the bushfires tore through Victoria, dedicated teams of volunteers had worked hard to erect close to 4000km of fencing.
Volunteers can phone VFF fencing co-ordinator Wal Lawson on 1300 882 833 or submit their details through www.vff.org.au
Fencing co-ordinators have been appointed in the La Trobe, Baw Baw, Murrindindi, Yarra Ranges, Mitchell, Nillumbik, Whittlesea and Alpine Shires, as well as in the districts of Weerite, Casterton, Maffra, Redesdale, Horsham and Yarram.
