THE headaches continue for administrators in the beleaguered Benalla and District competition.

Tatong was forced to forfeit its senior and reserves matches against Bonnie Doon last weekend.

Tatong president Hayden Croot said the forfeits were fuelled by a shortage of players.

"There was a couple of weddings on and we had a few players injured the week before," Croot said.

"It was just one of those weekends."

Tatong, one of just five clubs in the Benalla league, has been dogged by off-field turbulence this year.

The club's coach resigned just weeks before the season began, and former president Roberto Volpe resigned less than two months ago.

The Victorian Country Football League's ongoing review of football in the Benalla area has also created uncertainty.

Croot said he hoped the second half of the season would be more stable.

"We've got a mini-bus full of players coming from Melbourne next week so we should be right," he said.

"They came up the week before last and really enjoyed it so that definitely takes the pressure off the locals who have been having to play two games every week."

Tatong's reserves, premiers last year, have forfeited three matches this season, but sit above Longwood on the ladder.

The senior side remains winless.

"The twos are looking good and if they make the finals they'll have a fair crack at going back-to-back," Croot said.
