LATROBE has taken top-honours at this year's VCFL under-15 championship.

The team won division one of the prestigious V/Line Cup, held in Melbourne this week.

It was Latrobe's first win in the top division since 1998.

Latrobe was undefeated in its three matches against Bendigo, Ballarat and Goulburn Murray and was the only division one team to complete the championship without a loss.

Ovens and Murray came second, a big improvement on last year's winless finish.

Drouin's Daniel Jackson was a stand-out for Latrobe, named among the best players in all three matches.

Traralgon's Lachlan White was the team's most prolific goalkicker, finishing the carnival with six majors.

Other strong contributors included Kaine Allen (Briagolong) and Drew McGrath (Traralgon).

Both Jackson and Allen were named in the Team of the 2009 V/Line Cup, unveiled by the VCFL today.

Hampden won division two for the fifth time in six years.

The team defeated Wimmera, East Gippsland and Central Murray to clinch the title.

Goalkicking prodigy Nathan Krepp, who has booted 101 goals for South Rovers under-14s this season, booted three goals in every game at the carnival.

Colac's Brody Mahoney booted 10, including five in Wednesday's match against Central Murray, and was named in the best players in every match.

Mahoney's efforts earned him team of the year selection, along with teammate Daniel Watson, from Cobden.

Geelong 2 took out division three of the carnival, while Goulburn Murray 2 won division four.
