FORMER Victorian farm leader Simon Ramsay is considering another tilt at a federal Liberal seat.

Mr Ramsay said he would consider seeking pre-selection for the plum Western District seat of Wannon - but only if the Liberal Party wants him to.

Mr Ramsay said he was feeling "battered" after failing to win pre-selection for Corangamite last month and missing out in last week's National Farmers' Federation elections.

He said he didn't want to become the "perennial candidate", but would speak with Liberal party officials over the next few days about Wannon.

"I'm not going to run unless I know I've got good party support to do it," Mr Ramsay said.

Nominations for Wannon close on July 14 and so far there are five nominees - former Liberal state vice-president Louise Staley, Southern Grampians Shire councillor Katrina Rainsford, Corangamite Shire councillor Matt Makin, ex-VFF policy adviser Simon Price, and Southern Grampians tourism manager Hugh Koch.
