A NEW grain auction site, developed by a Liverpool Plains-based farmers marketing group, will start trading next month.
The site, developed by AgVance, will trade for the first time on Wednesday October 21.The launch of GrainsPlus follows the success of online grain trading platform, CLEAR, launched last year in the wake of grains market liberalisation in Australia.
Up to 40 lots will be listed at each fortnightly auction on GrainsPlus.
AgVance Marketing and GrainsPlus auctions director Ian Carter said the on-line auction platform provided the industry with a new and highly efficient way to sell grain directly from the farm.
“GrainsPlus allows the seller to maintain full control of their grain - marketing it directly to a broad base of buyers, whether for local or export trade and creates a much more fluid, competitive and transparent marketplace.”
Mr Carter said GrainsPlus platform would provide tools to current market prices and access to new online logistics services for moving grain post-sale.
“The requirements for trading grain are immense, presenting many challenges, such as the contractual agreements, storage and movement,” Mr Carter said.
He said all aspects of finalising the sale could take place electronically.
The inaugral grain auction is to be held on Wednesday 21st October at 12 noon.
Registration and listing is open to all grain growers, traders and buyers nationally and can be completed online at www.grainsplus.com.au or for further information call 1300 499312
