THERE are no flies on Australia's first cow poo artist Trevor Beckwith.
Trevor has the art world steaming with his latest work - Venus de Verity, the Goddess of Reality.
Carved out of solid cow manure, the bust is a parody of the famous Venus de Milo.
The 59-year-old artist from Mangoplah, in the Riverina, has entered the sculpture in this weekend's national farm art awards.
Featuring calf poo as her hair bun, Venus has a finish similar to polished granite.
Before turning to fine art, Trevor was technical director of a cardiovascular laboratory in Wagga Wagga.
His specialty is casting anatomically correct human body parts in bronze, steel and aluminium.
The idea of using cow manure in his sculptures grew from his drought-affected farm.
"I wanted to make a neo-classical sculpture portraying the reality of drought. So I used the most basic of material of all - cow poo," he said.
