GRAB your gumboots and frock up. The world's first gumboot ball is just around the corner.

The Colac branch of the Young Dairy Development Program has invited dairy farmers from across Victoria to team their after-5pm wear with their gumboots for what organisers hope will become a major social event for the region.

The Langdon Produce Gumboot Ball will be held on November 21, with comedian Russell Gilbert master of ceremonies for the evening.

A choice of two tickets will be available, a ball ticket priced at $45 and or a 24-hour ticket, at $60.

The 24-hour ticket will include a bus trip to the Genetics Australia's Birregurra bull farm and sight-seeing around the area on Saturday.

On Sunday the bus will head to Larpent for a robotic dairy inspection.

For bookings, phone (03) 5592 2477.

HERITAGE Seeds will exhibit its demonstration and experimental forage cereal species plots at Lardner Park this month.

On October 15, farmers can learn where and how forage cereals fit in to Gippsland farm systems, different characteristics of various species of cereals, sowing and harvest dates, as well as how often forage cereals can be grazed.
