THERE are several herbs you can plant around the vegie patch to attract bees that will help pollinate vegetables such as tomatoes, pumpkins, zucchini and squash.

Buy some borage seed and scatter it around the garden and you'll soon have it up and flowering.

The blue flowers are attractive on their own, but draw in bees that will help with pollination.

Borage readily self-seeds, so keep an eye on it and pull out any that germinate where not required or are too close to other plants.

English lavender is another plant that would be perfect as a border to the vegie patch.

It flowers in summer when many of our vegies are also flowering. The bees love it and are attracted in droves.
