THE number of wool growers voting in WoolPoll has lifted from 20 per cent to 25 per cent in the past week.
The latest figure shows growers seem to be shaking off some of their indifference to what levies they pay towards research and development company Australian Wool Innovation.
Growers have the option of choosing a levy of zero, 1, 2, 2 1/2 or 3 per cent of their wool income.
WoolPoll chairman and Queensland grower Will Roberts said he was reasonably happy with the level of voting.
"I'm hoping there'll be a bit of a scramble at the end," he said.
AWI has asked growers to vote for the 2 per cent levy. It plans to spend 70 per cent on off-farm research, development and marketing, and 30 per cent on on-farm R&D.
Voting closes this Friday.
