ALLOCATIONS for Victoria's Murray irrigators have surged to 53 per cent on the back of reasonable inflows into Snowy Mountains storages.

And near-average October inflows into Lake Eildon have driven up Goulburn irrigators' allocations to 40 per cent, the best they've seen this early in the season since 2004.

About 191,000 megalitres flowed into Lake Eildon during October, just shy of the 210,000 megalitre monthly average.

This week's allocation announcements mean Victorian Goulburn and Murray irrigators now have access to 1.1 million megalitres.

Goulburn Murray Water resource manager Graeme Hannan said poor inflows into the Broken, Loddon and Campaspe storages meant those systems remained without allocations.
