A REVOLUTIONARY electric-fence post was displayed at this year's Henty field days.

Known as the Clipex Hybrid, the specially designed post combines a plastic coating and clipping system which enables ringlock and hinge joint-style fencing to be quickly erected and electrified.

The post was exhibited by distributor Olsson-Ag, of Goulburn in NSW.

Sales and marketing manager Stafford Olsson said the post was a simple design and could be driven into the ground with a standard post driver.

"The steel post is a T-shaped post and a plastic sleeve runs down one of the faces," Stafford said.

"It's a great combination of steel and UV-resistant plastic, which means the fence can be erected in no time at all.

"The plastic sleeve contains a series of patented Clipex slots and you simply 'clip' the wire into these slots.

"It can handle a variety of wires, from panel mesh to plain wires."

Stafford said the wires were "dead easy to remove", which makes the fencing set-up ideal for strip-grazing.

He said the plastic sleeve meant no insulators were required for the electric fence.

"You just put the post in the ground and away you go," he said.

Stafford said the system could be used for plain-wire and electric fencing.

"You can also use it with barbed wire," he said.

Olsson-Ag also has a range of insulators of a "stand-off" design which clip into the Clipex slots.

The Clipex Bluey post is used for non-electric fencing applications and comes in several models.

The Bluey posts are available in five, nine, 10 and 11-slot designs.

The name refers to a unique coating applied help prolong the posts' life.

The coating is a heat-bonded epoxy.
