NOVEMBER is proving to be the month of hot bites for Victoria's anglers.
Yellowbelly and redfin have come on the bite in a big way in many lakes and rivers, with none better than the Delatite Arm of Lake Eildon.
Meanwhile, bay anglers in Western Port and Port Phillip Bay are hooking into big snapper in good numbers.
The outlet channel at Lake Mulwala is producing good numbers of yellowbelly.
Lake Charm has redfin to 1kg taking shrimp and local whitebait, while the Murray River near Swan Hill has yellowbelly and redfin being caught on scrubworms, yabbies and lures.
Yellowbelly are also being caught from Mildura to Wentworth, and in the Wakool River at Kyalite.
Yellowbelly to 2.8kg and brown trout to 2.2kg are being caught on lures in Lake Eildon.
Eildon Pondage is producing rainbow and brown trout to 1kg on Powerbait and mudeyes.
The Goulburn River has brown trout to 1kg being caught on Parachute Hackle Caddis and Green Matuka flies; below Lake Nagambie, the river is fishing well for yellowbelly.
Small brown and rainbow trout are being caught on lures in the Ovens River at Bright.
In the Western District, Lake Purrumbete has trout to 1.6kg on mudeyes fished under a float.
In the southwest, local beaches are producing good numbers of gummy sharks to 1.5m on squid and eel.
In the Glenelg River, estuary perch to 40cm are being caught on vibe lures, with bream to 37cm biting on crab. Best results are coming upstream of Sapling Creek.
Snapper are running in good numbers and size in Port Phillip Bay, with the best reports from Mount Martha to Carrum, Black Rock, and Brighton to Fawkner Beacon, Werribee, Queenscliff and Point Richards.
Most fish are 3-5kg but snapper to 9.3kg have been caught.
Best baits have been pilchard, silver whiting and squid.
King George whiting to 44cm being caught at Queenscliff on fresh squid and mussel.
In Western Port, snapper are dominating the catch with fish to 10.35kg caught. Productive areas include Lysaughts to Long Reef, Rhyll, the Corals, Corinella and Silver Leaves.
Best baits are silver whiting, squid and pilchard. King George whiting to 45cm are being caught on squid, mussel and pipi along the Middle Spit.
In the Gippsland Lakes, Paynesville has flathead being caught on soft plastics and the beach is producing good numbers of gummy sharks.
Hollands Landing has bream to 43cm biting on prawn.
At Metung there are good numbers of salmon being caught on metal lures and whitebait.
The backwater on the Mitchell River is producing bream and flathead on prawn and vibe lures.
In the Tambo River, bream are best between the Highway Bridge and Rough Road on peeled prawn and shrimp, while the Nicholson River is also producing bream. Reeve Channel at Lakes Entrance has whiting, trevally and salmon, with most caught on pipi, prawn and pilchard. Lake Tyers has flathead and bream taking pilchard.
The estuary at Marlo is producing salmon, tailor, bream, flathead and estuary perch on sandworm, crab and prawn.
Bait size prawns are running.
Bemm River surf is holding good numbers of salmon, while there are also bream and luderick to about 1kg in the river and the lake being caught on sandworm and peeled prawn.
