HUNDREDS of sheep were killed when a livestock carrier rolled in Victoria's west this morning, blocking a main highway.
The B-double truck was carrying about 700 sheep when the driver lost control on the Princes Highway at Stonyford, west of Colac about 2am, the Herald Sun reports.
The truck ran off the road and rolled, spilling sheep its load of sheep on to the road.
About 500 sheep were killed and a number of others that were injured had to be put down.
The truck driver escaped without injury.
Police have closed the highway between Hawkes Nest Road and the Pirron Yallock Hotel, with medium to long delays expected.
