MORE than 100mm has fallen across parts of central Victoria overnight, while Mallee and the North East Victoria had about 35-50mm.

And the heavy rain in Victoria has prompted warnings of flash flooding today.

A severe weather warning is in force for much of the state, following several days of record November temperatures.

In Melbourne,  drivers are being warned of dangerous road conditions across the metropolitan area due to reduced visibility in heavy rain and localised flash flooding.

The rain is expected to ease during the day, but the SES is warning people not to drive, ride or walk through floodwaters  and to keep clear of creeks and storms drains.
