IN THE midst of the fire season, you'd think it would be easier to find a fire weather warning than a tsunami warning. But not on the Bureau of Meteorology site.

With the new fire warnings in action last week, Back Paddock logged on to the BOM site, expecting to see the warnings prominently displayed on the home page similar to the bold tsunami alert, even perhaps with a flashing icon to click on.

But no. After a bit of fruitless clicking up dry gullies, eventually the warnings were found buried in the state sections.

Still, if you live in Hopetoun or Harrietville, it's good to know you can quickly find out when a tsunami might hit.
