THE Victorian Brumby Association will host its first annual open day and show at its recently acquired property, Brumby's Run, in Beaufort.

VBA president Colleen O'Brien said she was excited about opening Brumby's Run to the public and showcasing the horses on December 6.

The show's emphasis will be on fun and safety, not on winning the range of classes, which includes some wonderful Australiana-themed classes.

Classes include led, ridden, beginner barrel racing, bush jumping, Brumby trail and novelty categories.

There will also be several wild horse gentling demonstrations and committee members will be available to answer questions.

"Some Brumbies were only removed from the wild a few months ago and to think that they will be competing in the show in front of the crowds is a real credit to their temperament and how adaptable they are." Colleen O'Brien said.

The VBA will use all proceeds from the event to continue saving Brumbies and re-homing them.

Also, on December 5, the VBA will host a wild horse gentling clinic, with fence-sitting positions still available.
