KUBOTA'S new M9540 tractor boasts a range of specifications usually reserved for European-made machinery.

The Japanese-made Kubota M9540, with a 71kW Tier three-emission compliant engine, has a dual-speed transmission with 18 forward and 18 reverse gears.

Every gear in the transmission range can be split via a hi-lo switch, effectively making 36 forward and reverse gears.

Forward and reverse clutchless shuttling is standard via a switch on the left of the steering column, which makes the tractor ideal for loader work.

Top speed is 40km/h.

The 3800cc, four-cylinder, turbo-charged Kubota engine is efficient says Kubota Tractor Australia's product manager Lars Pasedag.

"The M9540 is based on Kubota's popular M40 series of tractors and is renowned for its efficient operation," Lars said.

Other features include four-wheel wet-disc braking and a rear linkage lift capacity of 4100kg at the ball ends.

Two sets of hydraulic remotes are standard and the hydraulic pump flow rate is 64 litres a minute.

The hydraulics can be activated externally if required for easy linkage control and implement hook up.

A third hydraulic remote valve is an optional extra.

Electric-hydraulic controls are also used to engage the power take off shaft and four-whee-drive.

The dual-speed transmission automatically engages four-wheel-drive when the brakes are applied in two-wheel-drive mode for safer stopping power.

Lars said the tractor's Ultra Grand cabin was spacious and well laid out, making it comfortable for taller drivers. The air-conditioning system is under the seat, not in the roof of the cabin to maximise head room.

The exhaust pipe runs vertically next to the front right-hand cabin pillar to maximise the driver's forward view, while the dashboard features a digital LED display for many of the tractor's engine functions.

Lars said a Kubota LA 1353E front-end loader also was available with the tractor.

The loader is self-levelling and can be fitted with a range of Kubota implements. There's also a choice of three tyre combinations.
