A RECORD crowd of 3200 riders raised more than $250,000 for children's cancer research at this month's annual Honda Snowy Ride.

Based at Thredbo in NSW, the event raises money for the Steven Walter Foundation, inspired by a passionate young motorcycle rider who lost his fight against cancer nearly 10 years ago.

Since its establishment, the event has raised more than $2 million and seen 21,000 riders taking part.

Next year's Snowy Ride will be the 10-year anniversary of the event and organisers are planning a Ride Around Australia to take place about the same time as the Thredbo weekend.
