ALBURY-Wodonga offers a balance between work and play.

As one of Australia's premier inland regional centres, the twin cities have the conveniences of a modern vibrant centre without the hassles of a capital's urban sprawl.

Large-scale retail, commercial and industrial projects have continued at a rapid rate.

Multi-storey commercial projects valued at $64 million in Albury will provide office space for new businesses.

Albury's retail space is set to grow with a $25 million Proton shopping centre and retirement villages valued at $135.5 million have opened in the city over the past year.

The removal of the existing rail line from Wodonga's city centre will free up 19ha of prime land and kick-start a $185 million CBD revamp.

And, with a $20 million retail centre at White Box Rise, a $20 million medical centre, a $5.5 million TAFE CBD facility and new bulky goods centre, employment will remain strong in Wodonga.

Manufacturing provides 19 per cent of jobs in the city, with retail bringing 15 per cent.

Wodonga council is encouraging investment in aged care, with developers sought for retirement villages, residential aged care, high and low-care units and high-rise CBD units.
