THE Yarra Valley put on perfect conditions for the running of the annual Wandin Park Horse Trials on the beautiful Wandin Park at Wandin North.
About 400 riders from across Australia competed in the 15 event sections.
Less experienced riders enjoyed the challenges of the "Little Wandin" course, designed to give provide them with a taste of international standards.
Del Ogilvy, from Garfield, won the International Two-Star class riding Grey Smudge.
The pair scored 53.6 in the dressage, jumped clear around the cross-country course, adding 15.6 time penalties, and sustained four penalties for a rail down in the showjumping, to finish on 73.20 penalties.
Adrian Bright, from Euroa, won the International One Star riding Tawbalt, on 63.70 penalties.
Catani's Paula Pilkington won the first Pre-Novice division, riding Token Kait, finishing on her dressage score of 54.60.
The second Pre-Novice division went to Sarah Hall, from Pakenham Upper, on NP Happy Gilmore. She finished on her dressage score of 48 penalties.
The Pre-Novice junior class was won by Tayla Wilson, from Badger Creek, riding St George Inveral Sailor.
The two preliminary sections were won by Naomi White, from Wandin, riding Mr Marvel, and Moyhu's Melissa Wilson, riding CP Platinum.
The three introductory sections were won by Wil Enzinger, from Macclesfield, riding TL Vevika, Sarah Schroder, from Belgrave South, riding The High Life, and Seville's Chelsea Priestly, riding Satchmo.
The proactive Wandin Park committee ran an amazing five training sections for the novice horses and riders.
Winners were Jessica Theobald, from Mt Waverley, riding Humphrey, Chelsea Priestly, from Seville, riding Mr Sparkle, Kylie Pedder, from Macclesfield, riding Ari's Celeste, Peter Hurley, from Boneo, riding Playboy Mansion, and Kristine Slater from Mt Cottrell, riding Wishy's Teighe.
Wandin Park's Horse Trial committee will now focus on its 30-year celebration of eventing when the Australian National Championships is staged at Wandin Park in March.
