NSW dressage rider Hannah Dodd is just 17 and has set her sights on competing at a Paralympic qualifying event in Victoria next week.

The December 9-13 event is the Victorian Dressage Festival, where riders from across Australia and teams from New Zealand, Canada and Japan will try to qualify for the Paralympic section at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.

Hannah's horse suffered an injury while training, which means unless a suitable horse can be found for her, she will lose the chance to try.

Hannah has overcome much adversity in her life.

She suffers from sacral agenesis, a rare form of spina bifida that causes physical impairment and pain.

Despite this, she is an exceptionally talented and passionate dressage rider.

Jaci Armstrong, director and riders' representative with Riding for the Disabled NSW, said Hannah had trained for many years, pursuing her dream to represent Australia at the World Equestrian Games next year and the 2012 London Paralympics.

"However, despite great progress towards this goal, she is now facing yet another challenge and needs help to find a horse so she can represent NSW at the December qualifier and hopefully Australia in international competition in the years ahead," she said.

Hannah is looking for a 15.2-17hh horse that is currently competing in medium/advanced dressage.

Hannah and her mum, Phyllis, are caring and responsible and any horse lent to them would be well treated.
