BIRCHIP grain and sheep farmer Ian McClelland will help farmers respond to climate change as the head of the national Managing Climate Variability program.
The government and industry-funded program helps farmers adapt to Australia's climate by improving forecasting accuracy and developing tools to incorporate weather and climate information into farm business decisions.
Mr McClelland, chairman of the Birchip Cropping Group, said climate and weather were the basis of farm success or failure.
