FIRE-devastated Marysville will be the destination for next year's Great Victorian Bike Ride.
The route, announced during the current ride, will depart from Yarrawonga on November 27 on a ride billed as the “Lakes, Rivers and Ranges” ride.
The arrival of 5000 cyclists into Marysville on December 5 should provide a boost for the town, razed by the Black Saturday fires.
“The local councils are working together to form a united approach to tourism in the region, and the Great Vic will be a fantastic event for a collaborative approach,” said Bicycle Victoria ride director Nikki Tyler.
The 2010 ride will have overnight stays in Dookie, Euroa, Murchison, Nagambie, Seymour, Yea and Eildon.
Meanwhile, riders face just one more stage of 42km to complete this year’s Great Victorian Bike Ride.
More than 5000 riders and 700 support staff and volunteers are now in Queenscliff for the final night of the ride.
Today’s stage from Anglesea took riders past famous Bells Beach to Torquay before lunch at Ocean Grove.
The wet weather of the first few days are just a distant memory with the stages in the last few days completed in perfect weather - mild temperatures and tail winds.
