NOEL tells us that she recently discovered that in the Northern Territory bees are considered livestock.
The result is that commercial hives are included in the National Livestock Identification Scheme, along with sheep, goats and cattle.
"When I rang the department I told them I seemed to be having trouble finding ear tags small enough for a bee," Noel said.
"They didn't see the funny side."
