PRESSURE is mounting for a permanent Black Saturday memorial with the first anniversary of the bushfire disaster just two months away.

With victims' families and the State Government undecided on how to mark the anniversary, the Herald Sun today asks Victorians to have their say on how the state's darkest day should be permanently commemorated.

Footy great Kevin Sheedy has joined the debate with a bold idea to bring the melted wreckage of a Kenworth truck from Marysville to the city as a permanent reminder.

But others say low-key remembrance sites should be established in each of the communities affected.

A televised state service of remembrance has also been suggested.

Sheedy said a central and stark reminder of the ferocity of the fires was needed in the city, and the twisted remains of the truck would be fitting.
