PRICES took a rollercoaster ride during the sale of 11,000 first-cross ewes and Merino sheep at Wycheproof. 

The first-cross ewes and ewe lambs sold to $150, but they were outshone by Merino ewes which commanded up to $180, with half a dozen pens making $100 or more last Friday.

David Fowles, a client of Elders Euroa, paid the top price of $180 for 305 1 1/2 year old joined Charinga blood ewes and $172 for 337 2 1/2 year old joined Charinga blood ewes from DD Kaylock, of Moulamein.

First-cross ewes with lambs made $104-$140, while store lambs sold at $61-$79.50.

Merino ewes with first-cross lambs made $104-$120 and Merino wethers fetched between $60.50 and $73.50.

Buyers came from Avoca, Ballarat, Bendigo, Boort, Euroa, Horsham, Inglewood, Mildura, Ouyen and Stawell.
