TWO new round balers from Gallignani are being demonstrated in NSW.
The two new models, a fixed chamber machine and a variable chamber baler, represent the latest in Gallignani's baling technology, according to product manager Guy Dening.
"We've been field trialling and demonstrating the balers for a couple of weeks now and the reaction to and performance of the machines has been excellent," Guy said.
The fixed chamber baler is the Gallignani GACH32 model, the latest evolution of the Gallignani 3200 baler.
The GACH32 produces round bales that measure 1.2m wide by 1.2m in diameter and has a 2m pick-up.
A 14-knife crop cutter is also a feature on the fixed chamber baler as is a hydraulic rotor reverse mechanism operational from the tractor cabin.
Guy said the hydraulic reverse meant any blockages could easily be removed from the baler with minimum fuss.
"The GACH32 is a specialist baler that's ideal for making silage and the hydraulic reverser is very handy, especially when working in heavy silage conditions," Guy said.
Large flotation 480mm diameter tyres provide plenty of stability for the baler and an electronic in-cab monitor provides the driver with information on the baler's key operating parameters.
The baler's chain rollers rotate on bearings, which minimises distortion of the bale.
The Gallignani variable chamber baler is the GAV8 model, which Guy said could produce bales 1.2m wide and up to 1.8m in diameter.
"The GAV8 has a 2.2m wide pick-up and has an incredible capacity," he said. "In one of our in-paddock demonstrations, it was baling at 17-20km/h and making 60 to 70 bales an hour."
The GAV8 has five belts to form the bales and the ability to twine or net wrap or both.
"The baler can handle net wrap up to 1.3m wide which allows 20-30mm of overlap at the bale edges so they are nice and neat and retain a square edge," Guy said.
"And the ability to run both net wrap and twine means the bale can be made very dense and still keep its shape."
Guy has also been demonstrating a Gallignani G950 bale wrapper.
The wrapper is a twin-satellite model with two film dispensers.
"The wrapper can be hitched behind the balers for a one-pass system or used on its own if needed," he said.
